Many times there are questions that come up, here are some additional information for you as a homeowner to find things out.
Common questions about well repair
First thing to check is always the aerators on the sink faucet, those do tend to get plugged up with minerals.
Second, is it only at one sink or faucet? If it is only one sink, then try opening and closing the supply valve. Exercising these valves will break up and remove mineral buildup
If low pressure exists thought the whole house, then try checking the water treatment system and the whole house filter. If those are clear or bypassed, then it may be an issue with the well.
This one is a bit more complicated. Based off of demand on the system, people in the house, any outbuildings, ect.
Ballpark is for a pump, 8 to 10 years, tanks will last around 6 to 8 years.
Of course things will vary massively based off of if the pump and tank are sized appropriately for the system.
If the tank is waterlogged, it will cause the pump to short cycle and starting up and running for short bursts is what kills pumps.
A waterlogged tank will kill the pump unless it is caught immediately. Even if the tank is changed out after running with the bad tank, and the pump still runs, there is a chance that there is damage inside of that motor and it is on borrowed time. Sometimes the motors last for years after the tank goes out, sometimes not.
Yes you could in theory do it D.I.Y, however well pumps can get very heavy and if something goes wrong, it can go wrong very fast and can get very expensive. Hoss Services has specialized tools and equipment to handle these issues and the knowledge to keep some from happening in the first place.
